Kyle Beltran
This is my alter-ego in the virtual world of Second Life where I perform regularly at Meatspace Lounge, the club I co-own with lifelong friend and master artist Tom "Quota Soon" Baumgartner.
Even if you are unable to log into Second Life, you can listen to my performances just like an internet radio station from 7:30-9pm PST every Tuesday and Thursday. All you have to do is hold down Ctrl-U in either Windows Media Player or iTunes and enter the URL of the stream, http://38.96.148.18:9292. It's much more fun to create an avatar and interact with me and the audience, and less confusing to listen since you'd be able to see what people in the room are saying/typing to me! However, you can still talk to me in Yahoo Messenger, just IM "kylebronsdon" :)
If you have an account at the photo sharing site, Flickr, you are also welcome to join the Meatspace group on Flickr and view snapshots of the events we have. Hope to see you in-world very soon!
It Must Have Been the Dopamine
Once upon a time, as the worn needle of an outdated turntable made its way across the vinyl surface of Frank Zappa's Hot Rats, a tragically dorky pre-adolescent boy vibrated with an emotion he couldn't describe. Even girls, he soon found, didn't arouse quite the same feelings as Magical Mystery Tour and Dark Side of the Moon. By the time the boy was aware enough of the fairer sex to begin to understand his libido, bands like the Pat Metheny Group and Return to Forever were already drawing his developing hypothalamus into deeper, more profound regions of sensation.
But women are the creation of a greater artist, and the boy soon found that playing the drums won him far more of their attention than writing rudimentary programs on his Radio Shack TRS-80 computer, which had so captured his interest between Dungeons & Dragons and music. The boy became a man, and an entertainer was born.
Kyle now accompanies himself at the piano and tortures women with romantic songs about his wife with a performing style he describes as "like breaking out of jail."
